Samui Estate has teamed up with Moneycorp, the commercial foreign exchange specialist to help you with your property payments. Exchange rate volatility will play a key role in your Thai Baht transfer. It is not uncommon for currencies to fluctuate by as much as 10% over relatively short periods of time. For example, if you were to buy a property in Thailand for 6million Thai Bahts, a 10% fluctuation could make your property £8800 more expensive. The expert dealers at Moneycorp will enable you to protect yourself from such fluctuations making your dream home more achievable. Specialist brokers like Moneycorp will offer much more competitive rates than high street banks or tourist outlets. In general the more money you wish to convert the better the rate. Depending on your bank or broker there will be a charge of between £15 and £40 per transfer transaction. Moneycorp are at the lower end of this transaction cost charging only £15 per transfer. It is a good idea to compare the total cost of a currency trade as some currency dealers do not charge a transfer fee but more than make up for this difference in the exchange rate they quote. The first step to making an exchange is to set up a trading facility. The facility is free of charge and will not obligate you but will enable you to speak to a specialist personal dealer. By quoting Samui Estate when you contact Moneycorp you will receive a Moneycorp privilege card and preferential rates of exchange. Once your trading facility has been opened your personal dealer will call you and you will be able to buy currency over the telephone. Moneycorp will work with you to help get you the best rate over your payment time frame. They can even place an order to purchase currency outside trading hours which will automatically trigger as your desired rate is achieved. With Moneycorp you can fix an exchange rate for up to two years to make it easier to plan the cost of your currency payments and minimise the fluctuation risk. Moneycorp makes forward currency buying very straightforward. Simply book an exchange rate and send your dealer the deposit (usually 10% of the contract value). The 90% balance of your currency contract is payable when you wish to have your funds transferred to Thailand. | |
| After booking an exchange rate, you will need to transfer your funds to the Moneycorp client account. The easiest and quickest way is by CHAPS or BACS. Moneycorp do accept cheques but bear in mind that any cheque will have to clear before funds are sent. Once Moneycorp receives your cleared funds they will transfer the Thai Bahts to an account of your choice. Moneycorp use Electronic Funds Transfer and can get the funds into a Thai Baht account far quicker than a high street bank.
